Evo Airave/Handcent/Data connection issue

This is a new one for me and I'm assuming the forum because I searched and could not find it replicated anywhere else. Firstly, I'm on the latest VirusRom, the latest OTA, and I have the new Airave. The problem is when I first come home, my phone will show a full signal with the airave like it always does, but if I try to use the internet or send a message, nothing happens. I get a message not sent error from handcent. I cannot even cycle my data connection on or off. I think it has something to do with the airave, because it will work fine once I reboot it. I can't update profile or anything until I reboot the phone. Has anyone else seen this or have any suggestions for what I could do?

Re: Evo Airave/Handcent/Data connection issue

I have the same problem. Which Airave do you have? When you say new one- the one that supports 3G? My EVO wont even attempt to connect to 1x through my Airave. My wifes TP2 does, my beater flip phone does, but EVO won't. I was going to call tech support about it, but then thought maybe I'd rather rake my Johnson through hot coals. Such a wonderful experience every time I call those idiots.

Re: Evo Airave/Handcent/Data connection issue

I had the original Airave and had no issues with multiple phones including my Evo. I got Sprint to send me the Airvana and now I have texting issues with the Evo all the time. I use the stock app and I get message not sent errors when it really has sent so people get the same text from me 3-7 times (depends on how long it takes me to go unplug the Airvana.) I have talked to Airave support numerous times and have been told by them and from 2 supervisors that there are known issues with the new model. One of them being the SMS issue I am having. Last I heard they haven't figured it out and it makes no sense when phone calls work fine and both phone and text use 1x. It was a lot worse when I first got the Airvana and I have been having less issues lately. One of the first days I had it I had to unplug it over 30 times in one day to be able to text. The last 2 weeks have not been as bad, so maybe they did an update. Though last night I had to unplug it 6 different times to get it to stop giving me SMS errors.

The other problem they told me they are having, which I had noticed too, is that I can not set the Airvana to private on the website and restrict it to certain numbers. Every time I do, it says it saved and then if you check again it's right back to public.

Kind of wish I had kept the original Airave instead as I never had any issues with it.

So 1x data worked on your EVO with the original Airave?

Did you have to do anything to the device or the old airave to get data to work?

It's nice to know that I'm not crazy...well, at least when it comes to this problem. Yes, by new one I meant I have the one that supports 3G. I saw in here that some of you can't get it to work even after unplugging it multiple times. Does restarting the phone not work? That seems to fix it everytime for me. It's just that when I first come home, it doesn't want to connect properly to the Airvana so my internet won't work and my text messages won't send. I noticed that the little 3G symbol at the top with the arrows never seems to do anything during this time. I've tried turning data off and turning it back on and I get nothing. The only solution is to reboot the phone. If this is a known issue, keep this going so we can see when a solution is available. Thanks for the help!

Re: Evo Airave/Handcent/Data connection issue

I wanted to chime in and say that I am experiencing the same thing with my evo. it bounces from full signal strength but no "3g" symbol to 3g symbol but no signal (I have garbage reception in my house without the airave) I had the misfortune of calling into airave support and was told it was a known issue and the lady was supposed to call me back next week. I told her I had applied the OTA update and noticed this happening right afterwards. she claimed it was a coincidence that the airave problem and this started at the same time. I have the Samsung airave not the new airvana. I was finally able to test yesterday with my old touch pro 2 and it saw and connected to the airave over 1x no problem so it HAS to be something with the EVO. I will update if I hear anything back from sprint.
