Re: HTC Confirmed OTA Fix for EVO 4G
Try this out guys:
problem: You get stuck at the robot screen with exclamation mark while trying to update 3.29.651.5 on rooted phone (unrevoked) solution: (thanks to androidguys at: Official Froyo 2.2 for EVO 4G | AndroidGuys) ****************************************** DISCLAIMER: I assume no responsibility for failed updates. This method worked for me while trying to update to FROYO on my unrevoked rooted evo. ****************************************** 1. download the update from: RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting 2. change name to "update" (without quotes). Change only the name. Leave the "zip" extension alone! 3. take out your evo battery and remove your SD card. Put it in your computer and drag the new file to it (or hook your phone to the computer via usb cable and drag the new file to SD card). 4. replace card (if you removed it) and battery and re-start phone (see 5) 5. hold the "up volume" button while starting the phone. 6. navigate to "bootloader" with up/down volume buttons (mine was already sitting on "bootloader") and select with power button. 7. find and select "recovery" (again with the power button). Phone will boot into recover mode. 8. select "apply update.zip" (again with the power button). That's it. It will take your phone about 5-10 minutes to completely recover. Don't worry about the box with a green arrow coming out of it pointing to a little android guy. That's part of the process. When it's all done, you will have 3.29.651.5, you didn't wipe or lose anything (except root), but Superuser permissions app will still be in your apps. |

Re: HTC Confirmed OTA Fix for EVO 4G
[QUOTE=yankees45us;1953337]Has anyone with unrevoked 3.21 had success with the ota update?
[QUOTE] total success... one thing i did before i ran the OTA was to make sure i had my recovery img and superuser on the sd card. once the OTA ran i started in hboot and flashed my recovery. went from rooted to unrooted to rooted in about 10 minutes. hboot is now at .97.0000 ^ |

Re: HTC Confirmed OTA Fix for EVO 4G
if you are already s-off from unrevoked forever or 3.21 you dont need to run that again. you need to reflash your custom recovery and then superuser permissions and then you are rooted again.
