ok, this is SOOOO annoying. i have 2 EVO's both identical (well close enough) and 1 updated on the 2nd attempt.. the 2nd one is now over 30 attempts, many different ROMS/WIPES and so on... so, i am with Einstein on this one... same results = the 2nd one is staying for now...

Finally!!!! I got the update. I tried several different ROMS, both the 786 and 3282 method. If anyone wants to know I finally got it to work using 786 on a Fresh ROM third attempt. However, I really don't think it matters, I'm sure it was 100% random luck.

I used the last method in post#1 the ##786# method took the second time.

Followed these steps:
1: Nandroid backup
2: phone ##786# Hit Menu - Reset (msl required)
3: phone reboots into recovery
4: Wipe Dalvik-Cache, Wipe Cache - Factory Reset (some have reported not even having to do this)
5: Reboot phone.

Ps. After step 2, I had to manually put into recovery. Then proceed to step 4.
