I have not done this mod yet, but it seems that it is reversible From the FAQ; How can this be removed or undone if I need to take my phone in for service? We have not yet developed a tool to reset the phone to S-ON. In the future, we may create one; in the interim, you should not rely on the existence of such a tool. ..but not as of yet.. lol In addition, also stated in the Wiki; Supported Devices At this time, the following devices are supported. HTC Droid Incredible, running radio baseband versions: 1.00.03.04.06 2.05.00.06.11 2.07.00.07.16 2.15.00.07.28 HTC EVO 4G, running radio baseband versions: 1.39.00.04.26 2.05.00.06.10 2.15.00.07.28 <-- Only way to get here is to have taken xx.3 oxx.6 OTA. So this *should* mean it is compatible with the current OTA. Except that I am not sure if the unrevoked3 recovery reflash tool works on OTA updated phones.. They make it seems so.. I guess we will have to try it..

Re: unrevoked forever
For reference, I am on stock non-rooted with xx.3 OTA updated with the full RUU to xx.6 OTA.
Ok, this is what I just did, i will update this as I try very step and give you guys the results. In following the current insctructions, I downloaded the files linked in the wiki. Since I am not rooted and do not have a custom recovery, it is required I download and install unrevoked3 and have it reflash it's custom recovery to proceed with the unrevoked forever mod. PROGRESS: 1. I just did this and it failed "Main Version is older!".. it may have been that I already had some *.img files on my sd, so I am gonna delete them and try unrevoked3 again. 2. I missed a step, dangerous thing not paying attention may = brick. Deleted the files on my sdcard, this time I scrolled down to Hboot USB, it had me install the drivers from their site. But it doesn't seem to have pushed any files over to flash.. 3. Tried again, unrevoked3 went through it thing this time and rebooted the phone. Waiting for reboot, the unrevoked3 tool comes back with "Failed to flash recovery image". So just for ships and kibbles, I have actually gone step by step and confirmed, it either requires you have been rooted or able to root using unrevoked3 (3.1) or other method and that it does not work on a stock non-rooted phone with OTA 2.2 update installed. Until there is a 2.2 compatible root solution. (note; no phones were hurt during this testing) EDIT: Reading further on other sites, comments of others that have tried seem to be mixed or not having enough details. As it stands looks like it does not work on non-rooted phones already on 2.2. One user claims to have been on 0.79 HBoot and it worked for him, but he does not mention if he was already rooted. NOTE: "...the exploit cannot yet be applied to the 2.2 OTA." source http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750273 Last edited by clockcycle; 08-12-2010 at 02:29 PM. |

It clearly states that you have to be rooted first before you can apply unrevoked forever, it also states that you can use unrevoked3 to accomplish root. Everyone on this site knows that you could not root using unrevoked3 on 2.2 before they came out with unrevoked forever, so what makes you think that it will all of a sudden work just because they released unrevoked forever. They are clearly stating that if you have a rooted version of 2.2, in which case you would have had to root using one of the many methods on 1.47 before going up to 2.2 (unrevoked3, toast root 1 and 2, etc), that you can use unrevoked forever to apply the s-off exploit. As clockcycle has just stated in the previous post his attempt failed. And I don't think its because he had another .img file on his SD, its for the same reason that unrevoked3 failed for every user that has did the OTA of 2.2 and was stuck there with only a hope that someone would root OTA 2.2. If you feel I am wrong update to OTA 2.2 stock unrooted and try for yourself and see if you, me or the instructions are misleading. |

I'm still wondering if anyone who had stock 1.47 with PRI 1.40, did the unrevoked forever, if so did the PRI stay at 1.40 or change to something new? or does anyone know how to email the unrevoked team to ask them this question? |

Re: unrevoked forever
The more i read the more I seem to get confused with all this. This is where I am right now.
Did unrevoked 1,2 and 3 (since i got the phone). Flashed the fixed 1.47 unrevoked OTA. Still on 2.1. As I understand it: I flash unrevoked forever. Flash stock recovery (have to find it still.) Flash the 2.2 OTA. Then flash a custom recovery (Clock or Amon). Is it that simple or am I missing something? |
