well just use easy tether and download the iso from microsoft for server 2010 over and over

This has nothing to do with root or 2.1/2.2. Sprint is allowing 4g wireless hotspot tethering until the end of July. It goes away tomorrow.

thought it was supposed to end mid july?

its neither, like i stated its enabled in 2.1 but will get blocked in 2.2

sprint cant disable it manually without a software update because they dont control the 4G network.

we can sit here and argue about this or wait few days and see if Droc can tell us in few days if he still have it enabled or not. given he haven't upgraded to 2.2 yet

no argument on my end. was just stating what I thought was the last timeframe for them stopping it. *shrug* all I know for sure is that I'm still using it... a lot! *L* I'll prolly wait a few days after the official release before moving to froyo so I can find out if pdanet and easy tether still work and to make sure there's no probs with the official release version.

I am on RUU Froyo 2.2, unrooted of course and teathered as we speak. I am using PDANet, free and it is great. I will glady donate to them but a free version is available with no restrictions that I have discovered.

If he already took the Froyo OTA 2.2 update you won't be able to root his phone just yet. There is no Froyo Root available yet. I think you mentioned something like that in your post.

when the free version "expires" you can still use it to go to most websites, but not any that are secure.
