Re: HTC EVO 4G Android 2.2 Froyo Release 7/30
I guess in the realm of a life time a few weeks is pretty quick. Personally I would rather wait a few hours. Our top guns will be all over it.

So, then just pop the new release and sit on it until it's rooted. Or are we saying that once you are unrooted you could be screwed forever?
I'm just trying to extract info.

From what I've been reading, all of our top guns have froyo roms in the testing phase. come tomorrow they can take pieces from the shipped Rom (like 4g and mms) and incorporate them. shipped Rom will be old news soon enough!

It shouldn't mess with any of your contacts, text messages, etc. But if you are paranoid about that, get something from the market to backup your data.

99.9% sure if you just upgrade you will lose your text messages. Your contacts, calendar and paid apps will be saved with your gmail account. So make sure you remember that user name and password if you update without backing up.
