I have the same question about updating to 1.47 before froyo? I never updated to 1.47 and everytime i check for an update it shows that and not froyo... When Froyo is released will it override 1.47 or do we have to update in order (if that makes sense)

I didnt see anything about 50,000 ppl there and yes it states you have to have the current updates installed to get 2.2.(when they release it)..

Pretty sure you have to do all thw updates. You probably won't be able to root for a while
