It's a lot harder to brick an Android than a WM device, and nearly impossible to brick an iPhone.

You should be fine if you follow the instructions on rooting/flashing, etc...

I have used cmda ws (2.7) and written work nv items to the evo and the phone is not booting any ideas?
I can get into boot loader but not in recovery

Put your SD card in a computer, put an All-in-one flash on the root directory, like Sprint Lovers, which gives you all the latest radios, PRI, etc, put the card back in the phone, power into bootloader, let it rip.

The best way to brick your phone, if that is your goal, is to drop it in a bucket of wet cement. Works every time.
