EVO to PC not working? ADB?

hi i just got the HTC EVO 4 days ago i switched from the TOuch Pro 2. im trying to sync my EVO to my PC but when i do its asking to find the "ADB Software" and with out it my EVO is not recognized. any suggestions?...

have you tried d'l htc sync from the htc site?
is your phone rooted?

Did you install HTC Sync on your computer? HTC Sync installs the driver for you. you can find it here.

ok just installed and my evo connected but when i try to sync my contacts it says "Syncrinization Failed". do to "there are no settings" whats this mean?

It means you need to re install the Drivers on your PC.

Maybe you need to go into settings and check USB DE-bug

HTC Sync without fail is a piece of monkey feces wrapped in elephant dung. I've never gotten it to work.

On the other hand, I just downloaded Droid Explorer which works so freaking well I cannot believe how amazing it is. Initially, i could conect my device, but couldn't see the directories, etc. Turned out busybox was read only and wasn't allowing me to access it on the device.

There are a few caveats:

have to be rooted (fully rooted)
May have to install busybox (I got help from the developer and you can see my post about how well it worked once I followed instructions on how to install busybox). They're part of the discussion I posted (link below) that was questioning if the Evo was compatible with Droid Explorer, after busybox installation, it is. WIthout fail, I am able to do so much that HTC Sync cannot do. A few parts of Droid Explorer are still under construction, but the application is great.:

This just means you have not selected what you want to sync with your computer. Go into the sync manager and select settings, then select what you want to have synced up.

And contrary to what many may say, I havent had any problems with HTC sync.
