what to restore?

i'm thinking about trying a new rom, i used rom manager to do a back up. if i flash a totally different rom, what would i need to restore?
boot,system,data,cache,sd-ext? also, would i have to restore anything with titanium backup first?

thanks,

Re: what to restore?

Depends on what you back up. I back up my dictionary and bookmarks and apps and google sync does the rest.

i just don't like having to reinstall everything and set the settings back up.. i know that on my tp2, that was just part of life, but from what (i think) i'm understanding with andriod, it'll do all that (including app settings) for me..?

thanks

Re: what to restore?

My back up pro gives you the options to back up and restore about everything including all your phones settings. I don't know of a way to back up app settings.

Re: what to restore?

If you back up the entire ROM in ROM Manager then when you restore it everything will be exactly like it was before.

I love that feature and do it all the time.

Re: what to restore?

MyBackupPro as well as Titanium Backup let you backup your Apps and Settings including some system settings. Just be mindful about restoring system settings on different ROMs due to possible changes but Apps should be safe, even if there is a new version, the settings should transfer over. The backup with Rom Manager is a full NAND backup, that doesn't restore to a new rom, that restores everything including the ROM. So that is just something to have in case a new rom didn't turn out like you wanted and you wished you could go back!

Exactly. I use titanium backup for those little backups along the way (games).
