Charter Email Trouble

Anybody using Charter have trouble setting up their Email account?

Using the settings found on their web site, IMAP , I can send but not receive.

Contacted Sprint, they had me set up as POP. Now it receive, not send.

On a side note.....when I go to Speedtest.net I can get my download info, but I always get an "Upload Test Error. Upload test returned an error while trying to read the upload file"

Re: Charter Email Trouble

Are you using the proper outgoing smtp server?
smtp.charter.net
port 25

Re: Charter Email Trouble

Charter will not allow you SMTP access. They are ****s. I have called them to see if they would allow SMTP access from my phone and they said No.
Unless they see you coming from a Charter ISP, they refuse to authenticate you.

One work around is to do what I have done. I have crossed my Charter with my GMail. Just go to the Charter online mail account and go into settings and have it forward all your mail to your Gmail. You can even have it delete the mail from the Charter server once it is forwarded.
Ofcourse, all your replies will be from your GMail account but it is a good way to weine your friends off your charter account.

Re: Charter Email Trouble

I have no issues w/ charter. Here are the settings.

i use pop3

pop.charter.net, no ssl, port 110

SMTP should be : mobile.charter.net

enable ssl for outgoing, server port 587

works flawlessly!

Thanks, that works. I can now split my accounts out and quit having to manage duplicate mail. Where did you get the SMTP settings(port number)? I called them right after i got the EVO and they told me to suck eggs.
