perhaps it was and has nothing to do with your setting change. i have an airave also and i am not having any issues with phone calls...

Once again, so many other factors come into play that will improve your data rate. That setting is just there to increase the sample rate of audio being recorded through the mic. A quick google search will help back what I am saying.

You read it wrong...

It's actually a little under half the speed I had before...

1400 to 500, not 1400 to 5000...

My speed went down also so I switched back. How about everyone post their location so we can get an idea of what areas benefit and what areas don't? I'm in a small town in MS just south of Memphis. I may try the speed test when I'm in Memphis just to make sure, but here my signal sucked anyway. After doing this change, the signal still sucked and my speeds were slower.

No Airave

I can confirm that I cannot complete a voice call with the setting committed on the Airave.

If I turn off the Airave, and use the on air network (only 1 bar in house), it does work.

I do like have full bars for voice conversations inside my house, that is why I have an Airave. If I want faster data inside the house, I just turn on WiFi to my 10mbit dsl connection.

I wish somebody would make an app to make subtle changes like enabling it via ##DATA# and then to force roam like we had with WinMo. I travel all over the East Coast and this would be beneficial.

mikldom,

what happens when you initiate a call? does it error and display "call cant be completed"? or are you able to make a call but its not usable? further do you have full bars on your evo display when the phone is idle?

It actually shows full bars most of the time, and, when I iniate a call.

With EVRC-B initiated, and the display shows full bars, it takes forever and doesn't go anywhere, says dialing, and, eventually I get the busy network tones, and then, can't complete the call.

When you disable EVRC-B, uses the Airave just fine, and you get the tones to tell you you are on the Airave.

If I turn off the Airave, and enable EVRC-B, call goes through fine, but, with 1 bar, it is a crappy connection inside.

I just wish there was an app to iniate little changes that you can flip a "switch" or widget to do certain things, and then turn it back off. Like the apps we had on WinMo to force roam but running the app, it would force the network to roam, and then running it again would take it back to normal... The shortcut on my TP2 that installed was call "roman" not sure why, but that program worked great.

Re: EVRC-B in advanced settings triples my 3G speeds.. why / consequences?

thank you for responding.

i can confirm that enabling this modification causes me no issues with the airave. im able to send and receive calls thru the airave. i have full signal level thru the airave and about 2-3 bars without it. i was also able to make calls when i was away from my place today with no ill effects of this modification. it could be that im in a ecvr'ed enabled area which is why im able to use this modification?
