Help with contacts from WinMo to Evo

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I just cannot find the answer. and I've been on many forums and in Evo, Android, WinMo, Google Sync and a few other threads.

I cannont for the life of me sync my google contacts with exchange server. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It keeps saying my password is incorrect. I know for a fact that my password to google/gmail is correct because I use it on my device for email and sometimes logging into gmail from the web browser on the device.

I've never used an exvahge server before so I don't know if there is something on that end preventing me from syncing.

Outlook and Activesync works just fine USB on a PC. It's just the exchange part driving me crazy.

So I'm stuck with an Evo that I cannot get my contacts in right now. I don't want to simply use Gmail to sync. There are tons of contacts there that I do not want in my phone.

I want to use the Evo's phone book and not the additional phonebooks that are created whenever you create a POP acct to sync.

Sprint transfered my contacts but no pics for caller ID was transfered. And the notes and birthdays were screwed up too.

When I Bluetooth from TP2 to Evo, The caller ID pic comes over but the notes are screwed up.

As well, I can only BT 1 contact at a time. 380+ contacts is gonna be a pain.

And for some reason, when I use HTC Hot Sync, the Evo keeps telling me that it cannot find Hotsync on my PC, and I know it's there because I'm looking at the program as I'm connnecting device.

I'm constantly carrying an EVO that's activated and a TP2 that's not activated but I need my contact info from lol

Hopefully my post makes sense and ANY help would be so greatly appreciated.

also, I'm at work right now but if it's easier to call/contact me, just PM me and I don't have a problem giving my # for any help.

Thanks in advance.

Use this. I think you have to rename one of the header in the export in order to import correctly in gmail.

i assume your using the newest htc sync? I think its been updated since the one they put on the storage card.
hmm..create another gmail account, sync only your google contacts with it? use that to sync to your phone? i'm sure you thought of that idea too.

sorry, all i could think of.

Re: Help with contacts from WinMo to Evo

I had to uninstall, reinstall HTC Sync twice on my wife's and my laptop before the Evo would connect to the computers. Uninstall it and try installing it again, I did that then sync'd with my Outlook contacts and calendar

I don't think that will work. sorry if I wasn't clear but I don't want goggle contacts synced.

I want my OUTLOOK contacts sycked and I heard that I could do it using my google acct for the Exchange server.

Please advise if this is incorrect.

I even tried this back up program called Sprite Migrate that is supposed to sync, contacts, task, calandar end text msgs (thich I really want text) but that failed for me too.

I've tried uninstalling and re installing about 7 times so far lol. I'm not at home right now but I just tried last nite the latest version for Evo from the HTC website. I think it was 2.04 or something. But definately not 2.02 or 2.03

Re: Help with contacts from WinMo to Evo

Try Sprite Migrate, it's available here, it does exactly what you're asking for and it's free (no, i don't work for them):

http://www.spritesoftware.com/produc...-does-it-work-

Good luck

PS, I used this and it worked well.

Another option, sync all your contacts with google one time and then resync to your android device (you can even do a find duplicates this way and merge contacts that may have partial information across two entries, yes, I know, also a merge).

Sorry about that, I suggested a program you already tried, ignore my post, it worked for me.

I gave up on HTC Sync, although there is a good thread that talks about how to get it to work (I'm going to try this myself when I get home tonight), look at the "Im not getting a notification of Android ADB when i plug in my USB" about halfway down post 1 that talks about using USBDeview:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719

I'll report back tomorrow to say whether this worked for me. I've tried everything else and of all places, this was referred to on XDA-Developers in a thread about bootanimations not copying over to the device.

Re: Help with contacts from WinMo to Evo

easiest way was to install myfunambol on my TP2 and syncing my contacts to their portal, then on their website you can export those contacts to a vcard for outlook but instead i imported this vcard file to my gmail and voila! wm to android

or jus sync it to myfunambol and then resync my funambol on your android, the app is on wm and android

Re: Help with contacts from WinMo to Evo

i noticed when your in the contacts page on the phone, you can press menu, and import contacts from sd card.

unfortunately it looks for vcf files and i havent found a FREE vcf contact converter. outlook seems to only want to export the contacts as csv files.

i did notice while in outlook, if i selected all my contacts and right clicked, i could 'send full contact in internet format' ..and they mail as vcf....so maybe email them somewhere, save all the vcf files onto your sd card and try to import them?
