HTC is going to add sense overtop of froyo since that's there interface. Because of that, there will be a delay to ensure everything works properly. As for Froyo versions, sure it will probably be different especially if Sprint doesnt release a froyo update for a few months. You can test froyo now on the Evo. Visit the upgrade forum for links to froyo based roms already available.

I agree with the OP, I used a friend's Nexus. The interface is marginally better, but our phones are better. I would rather have better hardware since you cant upgrade that!

The only thing I'm looking for from Froyo is working Bluetooth voice dialing. Everything else works pretty well. Surprisingly, WINMO still does some things better than Android, but the list gets smaller every day.

Full exchange support without Sense, much better performance, possibly better battery life, and better flash support are all big pluses for Froyo. As far as UI, its not much different. Gingerbread will be a bigger change as far as UI and noticeable differences goes.
