Necessary to Re-root Phone?

I'm a newbie to Android and rooting so bare with me. I rooted my phone the other day following this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=123714. I had a few problems along the way but I believe I got everything figured out. I flashed the Fresh ROM and everything went fine.

I am now experiencing extremely poor battery life compared to what I had before I flashed the ROM. I'm familiar with ways to save battery and what not but I still drain the battery with nothing running in the background. Another strange issue is that the amber battery light stays on even when I unplug the phone from the charger.

My question is would it make sense to re-root my phone? Since I have technically already rooted it, would I be able to follow the exact same steps as I did before and get the same results? I know how to flash the other ROMs but I want to troubleshoot this one step at a time.

If this is possible, please hold my hand a little bit and walk me through it. I did have 1.47.651.1 installed before I rooted. I'm not sure if this helps. I rooted my phone through DOS but understand there are some other ways to do it. Thank you for your help!
