Evo or iPad?

Yesterday afternoon, I bought my wife the Evo 4g (her first phone in 3 years). After playing with it all last night and some this morning, she made a bold statement. She said now that she has her Evo, she doesn't need the iPad!! Another potential disasters averted and another Evo convert!!! Now it's time to work on my mother and father!!!

Well I am in a similar situation, my girlfriend already has an evo but she is somewhat of a phone ***** like I am but my dad keeps asking me about the evo and I don't know what to say. He has at&t and sprint accounts that he use on a regular. Now please don't flame me but I am almost tempted to tell him to get an iphone for the simple reason of it being a little more simple to use and the better battery life compared to the evo. If he buys anything else I am now gonna become his technical support.

No, I am not going to flame you. I am in a similar situation. I got all of my immediate family & wife on WinMo and now I am trying to get them switched over to Android. I was the go to for all WinMo questions. So I am assuming that I will be the Android go to in my family as well.

i got both and love them both. i obviously use my evo way more.....now that i have it.

forgot to mention.....the only up i see in my iphone 4 is the video recording. nothing else. maby a few apps but android is making its way pretty fast.

i'd tell the average consumer, especially women and older people, to buy the iPhone just because of how simple it is... you can't tell them to get winmo because they will hate it without hours and hours of help from you and even then they'll still need help down the line. Android is a lot more user friendly than winmo, but it's still a lot to take in for the average consumer imo. iPhone 4... well, a baby can use that and it's still a great phone. Android's better, but being someone's support can get kind of annoying.

Ipad cant make calls like the iphone.....EVO 4g wont meltdown on you either!

that's comparing apples and oranges...

the iPad is too big to be a "phone" like device...where as the EVO is really to small to be compared to the iPad.

I have both...rooted and jailbroken...there are specific times when one is better than the other.

Anyway you look at it...both items are a luxury...if you're deciding on one or the other...you should look at what your PRIMARY needs are.

If you're just a tech/gadget geek...AND you can afford the upkeep of both...I'd say do both...because these are both OUTSTANDING pieces of gear.

I have both iPad 64g wifi and the evo. With a pair like this, I dont even need my macbook pro anymore since i tether my evo and ipad and use my evo when ipad isnt convenient. But they really are 2 different devices so comparing them is not really possible.
