Please Help with Unrevoked 1/2. Lost root after Hardreset!

Ok i think i fully rooted my phone following this:

I went through the whole thing and am back up but when I try to install wifi tethering the super user permissions goes black and hangs. What’s going on? This really sucks. Please help!!! Oh and the super user icon is a # symbol not the little ninja guy. Is this ok?

Figured it out!! Needed to have Debug mode selected! I’m all good now. Thanks to everyone who tried to help. One more question. I’m now on software version 1.32.651.6. Do I need to update to the latest version or just stay here? If I need to update how and where are the Rom files?

yeah i fully rooted last night using that same thread (but from post#1)..

anywayas to get to the new software version 1.47.651.1 do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915
just make sure to power up your phone while holding the 'down' vol and make sure it says 0.76.2000 and NOT 0.79.0000 at the top of the screen somewhere.

from there, the rest of the link explains the process.
