You may also want to try making sure your phone is set to cdma and not gsm.
You can do this by: ~Go to your dialer and press *#*#4636#*#* ~Next you will see a screen and the top option is Phone Information choose that ~Then go to the bottom of that screen and make sure that it says CDMA if not hit the drop down menu and choose it. I did this with my phone and it was set to gsm once i fixed it my battery life was slightly better. I also did a lot of the suggestions posted in the article that tokuzumi posted. Welcome aboard!!!
