Re: is the update safe?
All I know is if I could go back and undo the update, root, then update with the root intact, I would... Otherwise, yes the OTA update is now completely safe... but at least use unrevoked's root...

Re: is the update safe?
Unrevoked issued a new patch, with the OTA made safe, about an hour or so back. It's only for those of us who knew not to do the original OTA.......

Here is the message:
unrevoked: For those of you with #evo4g who haven't OTAed yet, we have the patch for you! http://bit.ly/aMTjLU Now with 99% less brick. That link takes you to here: http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/do...vo_ota_2_patch Last edited by TheBundo; 07-01-2010 at 03:21 AM. |

Re: is the update safe?
I think it can take quite a while, with several reboots. Any update? Does wifi tether still work? How about paid apps, etc?

This is a very paranoid question to be sure, but I'm asking because I'm being very paranoid given the bricked nature of others' phones. However, given unrevoked's track record, I'm more inclined to trust his updates than HTC/Sprint. |

Re: is the update safe?
No issues here, then again I haven't rooted or felt the need to, I do see a great improvement in reboot times....before it was horribly slow, now it is almost instant
