But for me, it also boils down to... I have 4g, would prefer to keep it... like my camera... and no complaints on anything else. Also, I was able to get the OTA update which updated the radio and took care of signal strength and battery... something that rooted / hacked users suffered through difficulties with.

With a 5 month old in the house, having no camera is a deal-breaker for me

(i own 3 cameras including a canon mark ii 5d, but the best camera is the one on you!)

Minus the trackball and 2nd camera, what are the porting challenges? Isnt the hardware pretty much the same?

Actually its the opposite. Rooted users had it easier and just had to apply calkulins update, it was up on xda before 11, it was non rooted users who downloaded the official update twice who got bricked phones which was why the official update was pulled then rereleased.
