dont know about that according to the htc CEO says before christmas for sure lol...........

HTC models seem to be last on the list to upgrade to Android 2.2. Eric Lin, HTC's global PR and online community manager said, ""It takes time to port all of our applications over to Froyo and then make sure that it is running well on each of our devices," he said, "That’s not like a one week kind of project. We need to make sure that our applications are taking advantage of the Froyo features. To make sure that they’re all running properly on the OS now that it’s a new version. And then to make sure that it's running on our hardware as well as we expect". The executive went on to add that "the updates are going quicker than expected" and he doesn't expect it to take the 6 or 7 month period of time that it took to go from Android 1.5 to 2.1 because the change is "less severe". He added, "Switching from 2.1 to 2.2, they made a lot of tweaks, but they didn’t make any gigantic changes, so it should be a much swifter process". As for guessing when Froyo might be on all eligible HTC handsets, he says that HTC should be complete with the 2.2 upgrade before Christmas this year. As for Android 3.0, Gingerbread, Lin says at first that he wouldn't venture a guess, and then says that it might launch in Q1 of 2011.

Its pretty much because of the sense bloatware htc uses... if it were Vanilla android we wouldnt have to wait as long.. probably could've gotten it right after the nexus. We will without a doubt be last.

This was already a separate topic of discussion. As I stated before, that article deals ONLY with the reality of the timeline for completing ALL phones as a collective. It isn't an all-or-nothing deal. Each phone has its own timeline. That timeline is NOT specific to the EVO. The EVO has its own timeline... and its pretty much already ready.

you made me ponder when sprint was telling everyone the 6.5 update was comming, comming comming, and it came, and i sold the tp2 a few months later for the evo....so, dont hold your breath n go thru the agrevation of checking constantly if its out, you'll hear....just hope it isnt around the same time the next best thing since sliced bread arrives on the scene

Sprint will put out a 2.2 release "eventually" possibly even before 3.0 comes out.
