Evo= Another crippled htc device?

Is this dejavu? Is the Snapdragon crippled like the ms72xx cpu's? I have come across several articles on tech sites like xda and engadget and a few other concerning Evo owners complaining how bvthe framerate is capped and how 3d games do not run any faster than the old HTC devices. Similar Htc Tilt issues with the hardware accelaration. I am considering to purchase the Evo but I sweared I would not but another HTC device ever since the xv6800 (mogul) fiasco about the lack of 3d accelaration. So is the Ev o crippled aswell? I dug deep on youtube to see 3d gaming on the device and I must say its terrible. Please give me your honest opinion. And please dont say its not a psp or dsi or xbox. I had high hopes that we wedre going to get a device at least close in how smooth the iphone runs in 2d and 3ed. But looks like Evo is still way behind. Ps. not a iphone troll. Just want iphonje performance.

Snapdragon isn't crippled. This same processor is on the Droid Incredible. It's either software or firmware.

Nexus One is now having the same issues with the OTA final firmware that is just coming out today...so definitely not such a simple issue...

Wow! I am going to hold off on buying unti a fix actually comes out. I wont give htc 1 penny for yet another cripple device.

have to agree with you! im eager to get this device however the multiple issues my fellow ppcgeekers seem to be having is causing me to wait and see what fixes they will provide and if the fixes will actually work... c'mon htc get it done

well i have to say this, having both the evo and tp2 i will have to say the evo is a step up.. small problems or not its a better phone of course.. the tp2 feels so big compared to the evo ( even tho the evo is "bigger")

too many plus with the evo to worry about some little things.

if HTC knows about the problems then i hope they can fix it soon...

I dunno i haven't ran into any problems with my evo besides one incident were sense didnt load after i unlocked my phone but a battery pull fixed that

I haven't had any issues and I play a game that takes up over 25mb of device space and haven't experienced any issues with those hardcore graphics or slow down in the app or accelerometer whilst playing it.

If you research you will find that HTC knows of the frame rate issue on the Evo. This is not hardware based...its is either software or firmware based...and they said it would be addressed and fixed by the time the Evo gets Android 2.2. Yeah, having a big screen and playing games is nice, but isn't that what your PC at home is for? If anything I will be downloading ROM's for SNES, Nintendo etc and emulating them....which doesn't required squat for GPU performance.

I would like a link to this. I have checked all the pertinent threads regarding this issue and found no official response from HTC. It should be resolved NOW via maintenance update, not 2.2, which they probably won't release until next year at the rate they do updates.
