Re: Where is this thread?
coppermine, you may want to read the thread posted called 'BIG problems'... Based on one of the posts, the Facebook sync has a looping issue that will constantly keep your phone from sleeping, and will keep looping data downloads all day. I had the same issue and it killed my battery in a few hours. You may want to just disable the Facebook sync until they fix the problem, instead of turning all sync off.
As for what you need to kill and what you don't... It's a Linux based kernel, which handles RAM differently than a Windows machine. You do NOT need to kill any apps that are running unless it's not responding and won't pop up to force closed. As for a change in battery life while using a task killer, I'm calling placebo effect. The data stored in the RAM doesn't take up any more battery than it would with the RAM cleared. To top it off, if the RAM is already holding information for a program, once you use the program, the system won't have to load any more than it has to, saving battery and CPU cycles once the phone is started up.

Re: Where is this thread?
Makes sense. I removed the friendstream, are you saying if I disabled facebook sync entirely I could leave the auto sync on for everything else, email etc?
Ill check out the thread, thanks! I am used to windows mobile so this is an interesting change after having used it since the cingular 8125. |

Linux is definitely a change for WM users, but so long as you know a few of the basics (such as not needing to close programs using RAM), you'll do fine. |

Re: Where is this thread?
Rgr that. I am going to use juicy plotter to watch the consumption and disabled auto kill. I'd like to see how much rape my syncs especially facebook are causing.

Re: Where is this thread?
The Facebook sync keep the phone from sleeping, as well as the data use, meaning your battery will suffer severely when you're not using your phone, as it will not go into low-power mode.
