Did you mean to say Droid Eris? The Droid Eris doesn't have as high of resolution camera as your Evo does...you have to factor that into the equation...Each phone is built a different way also..so depending on what they use, and what software they are using details how that camera will react.

Re: For People Complaining about evo's 30 fps 720p
If your just looking for a phone, then why the heck would you buy an EVO?
It's primary use is a lot more then just a phone. Most people that own an EVO probably use the phone part less then anything else on the device. People need to stop saying things like this. These devices are meant to be so much more then just a phone. They are meant to be a multi-media device that allows you to do alot of different mulit-media things while on the go. That is what it's primary use is. They don't put a 4.3" screen on just a phone so you can see the numbers you are dialing better......... |

People, wake up! You purchase a device like this because you want more then just a cell phone. These devices are being made so you do not have to carry around 5 different devices at one time. Their purpose is to be a all in one solution for us. Sure, some features will work better then others based on technology, but the thing people are missing is the technology is in the device, we are just being locked out of it! The specs are built in, it is just unfortunate that they would limit it's capabilities. For others who are just looking for a phone, check out a Startac or a Razr. Their main features is a phone! |

Imagine, if you will, a camera that records every pixel as 20 bits of data for 720p @ 59.97 frames/second. That's broadcast 720p, uncompressed. This uses a WHOPPING 1.5 Gigabits/second of data. That's 187.5 Megabytes/second. This would murder the flash memory on our SD cards. Now, our cameras only do 24 frames/second, like film. That's not bad in and of itself. The problem lies in compression. A standard DVD 480i movie is compressed to about 5-8 megabits/second. Our 720p camera with nearly 2x the uncompressed data is only recording at about the same bitrate. In reality, we need to record at a much higher bitrate. The Snapdragon processor in our phones CAN do 720p encoding, from everything I've read on it, (Go to wiki and follow the source links, google the processor's model number and read about it, etc), but the problem lies in the camera application. I'm sure we'll see apps written soon that will mitigate this issue. I do have to say, though, the 8MP camera with backlight sensor kicks tail. The pics I took were AWESOME, so I'm pretty psyched about how the videos recorded from it will look in a few weeks. |

Re: For People Complaining about evo's 30 fps 720p
some of us noticed that the screen wasn't refreshing properly without numbers. benchmarks just confirmed it.
i noted it in a brief look at the device while i played with it at the sprint store. my two gripes at that time was the "fuzzy" look compared to the droid - lower ppi - and that the scrolling stuttered while i was looking over a web page. if you don't notice it, then i'm glad you're just an average user that it doesn't bother. like i said in another forum i notice things in print that most people wouldn't even think twice about since i work in print. some of us are a bit more advanced - that's why we got a pda instead of a just a phone. if i had to make a guess most the people that have no issue with the performance are either coming from a dumb phone or winmo. those are the people who'd probably be happy with a kin if it had a 4 in screen. you don't need a 1ghz processor to tweet how big a dump you took last night. |
