I think this could be a huge battery saver...

ok so im not sure if anyone has seen or tried this, but if you go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks>enable always on mobile data, there is an option to uncheck the box. i turned all of my automatic updates to manual in email, facebook, etc..and then unchecked this box. It seems now that the 3G connection will actually go dormant now, meaning grey 3G symbol and grey arrows. Connection still works when called upon, like when your browser is opened, but it seems like my battery has fared me much better since trying this. ANyone else want to try this and post their results? Again my bad if this has been posted already

Hey since i have a better connection using wifi at home, what does the sleep setting for wifi do? I have it set for 15 min. Will it stop wifi after 15 min or 15 min of non use

I have mine set not to sleep. It seemed counterintuitive to me at first, but I think the theory is that it takes more power for it to turn on and off than it does for it to just sit idle.

I leave my wifi and gps on all the time. When I leave my house, 3G takes over, when I come home, wifi comes back. I have it set to remember my unsecure network at the office that IT set up for us and a few other networks I'm in range of every now and then. I am getting great battery life, as are my wife and kid with their phones with the same set up.

And as far as the OP goes, that change made the most difference in my battery life and I notice no difference in getting mail (gmail app), updates, etc.

Re: I think this could be a huge battery saver...

thanks op, just changed mine - I am already very happy with my battery life so any little thing to help I will take. I was not so happy the first few days I got my evo. Sprint should have set a lot of default settings different.
