Re: I think this could be a huge battery saver...

thanks op, just changed mine - I am already very happy with my battery life so any little thing to help I will take. I was not so happy the first few days I got my evo. Sprint should have set a lot of default settings different.

I have mine set not to sleep. It seemed counterintuitive to me at first, but I think the theory is that it takes more power for it to turn on and off than it does for it to just sit idle.

I leave my wifi and gps on all the time. When I leave my house, 3G takes over, when I come home, wifi comes back. I have it set to remember my unsecure network at the office that IT set up for us and a few other networks I'm in range of every now and then. I am getting great battery life, as are my wife and kid with their phones with the same set up.

And as far as the OP goes, that change made the most difference in my battery life and I notice no difference in getting mail (gmail app), updates, etc.

u still need to change your email sync settings, this wont stop them from syncing, it will just kill the data connection when not being used, versus it leaving it wide open with the box checked

Like what was just said leave it on never. If you leave it on 15 min it will switch to 3g after 15 min which wasted more power than wifi

It's just that you have to turn it on every time you open the browser.

Re: I think this could be a huge battery saver...

my battery is going on 8 hours of life, with some usage, and still at around 70%. this helps out soo much. my battery normally wont last longer than 4-5 hours
