I use HandBrake to convert my video files from .avi to mp4. Here's a link on how to do it

No, phone is not plugged in the computer. Are .mp4's the best format for the EVO? And I have a MAC if that makes a difference.

Mp4's work fine for me and i use the stock video player...basically the same vids i have converted for my ipod i use on my Evo wit no problems......I use Allok 3gp converter by the way

Sadly that app is only available in Chinese and I have contacted the author for authorization to translate it but, haven't heard from him so far. Look around there are some threads talking about alternative apps to play your videos. |

I found a video app that can actually play divx encoded avi's smoothly. This one is playing at a full 24 frames per second and looks good.
It called RockPlayerBase and is currently in a closed beta. Here is a download of the app: http://www.mediafire.com/?u3lwq2z5mzm You will need to select allow non-market apps in settings to install it. |
