Wired Tethering ( for rooted users )

I was looking around everywhere for this app. Alot of people use the wireless tethering, but there is still a handful of us that do it the original USB way.

This is straight from google.

I attached it for you guys also.

I believe you have to be connected via htc sync first, i tried via charge only and it isnt tethering yet

I havent used it yet however your earlier post said you connected it to "charge only" which is exactly what it says. You need to reconnect the phone to the computer and choose internet sharing. If that doesnt work, check to see if the internet sharing is njot greyed out anymore in the wireless & networks page within settings menu. Again I have not installed or tried this app yet.

Re: Wired Tethering ( for rooted users )

Ok figured it out!

Apparently you have to be on a 4g network for this to work...

after you switch your phone to 4g it installs a remote NDIS network which im sure you need htc sync installed on your computer to automate the process like you needed device manager before on windows mobile.

I am using this right now here in Nashville and it works just fine.. although I think my 4g is a bit on the low end, but I think im only getting about 2 bars since Im in the outside Nashville area in Hermitage.

Oh wait... my bad!! The program wasnt doing it. The built in Internet sharing was doing the duty.

Re: Wired Tethering ( for rooted users )

So why can this not be made to work in 3g? I think that most of us are still waiting for 4g, with no hope of that being anytime soon... Does anyone know of any other apps that tether through the usb, other than pda net. I am hoping for something that does not require software to be installed on the pc?

Ok I know it sounds weird enough, but im hearing to get the built in tethering to work in 3g you must turn on wifi as well.Although, some people are reporting that Sprint has turned of that ability for now in 3g. To get it to work in 4g you disable wifi.. Another possibility of some people might getting it to work over others is the fact that some of us were either forced to take the 6/4 OTA update from whomever we got the phone. This could have been the patch that sprint implemented to block usb tethering. I will have to confirm this another time unless someone else wants to seeing as I am on my way to bed.

Wired Tether (Internet Sharing) - Is it free?

I'm an EVO noob, just got it... it's awesome.

Please don't yell at me for asking this, I've read a bunch of posts and haven't found a definitive answer. So here goes:
Is wired tether supposed to be free on the EVO (not paying for Hotspot)?

When I try to connect, the good-old "Error 67..." business pops up.
I tried enabling USB debugging and updating my profile - no luck.
So before I call sprint and demand they fix my stuff, I wanted to check if I'm even supposed to have it.

Thanks.
