I thought with the original Toast method that the phone was fully rooted. What are the benefits of performing this process?

You can modify the system folder (basically remove OEMs or add system protected apps) within android.

How do you remove system protected apps? I am now fully rooted and want to clean out a few apps I do not use.

Ok. I did that and deleted the Amazon MP3 store app. I rebooted my phone and the file is gone from the system folder, but the app is still there and runs under apps.
