You can do this while on a 4g or WiFi connection. If you want to connect to 3g while on a call, you will have to switch to ATT or T-Mobile as only GSM technology can do this.

You can text and be online yes but it still interrupts online for a fraction of a second...most audio and video is prebuffered so less then 1 sec interruption you wont notice a breakup in service...like I text and tether at same time but it does interrupt my RDP connection for a second and then reconnect when I text

This is more noticeable when I chain text..then my connection breaks..

But with wimax yes you can truly do both..cant wait till 3g is a thing of the past >.>

Texting and listening to Pandora didn't cause me any problems in Pandora, but it did when I was using A Online Radio. So like gTen said I think it is all how that type of app prebuffers.

actually thats not entirely true evdo can do voice and data at the same time just not this revision of evdo. it takes evdo rev b to be able to do simultanious voice and data. sprint wanted to do this a few years back and asked verizon if they would follow suit. verizon said no so sprint didnt do it ither

actually, all versions of EVDO are capable of voice+data. Look up EVDO detailed specifications. Its up to the carriers to implement it, and US CDMA carriers have chosen not to do so. Lets do our HW before posting!

Not all EVDO..only Rev A and B..Rev 0 can't do voice + data

There is also WCDMA type sim card which lets you do voice + data but US doesn't do this either.

There is also SVDO spec which allows 1x voice + EVDO data at same time

but the conclusion is you can reply to and text from the EVO while on a call correct? Hope someone answers this soon as I am heading to sprint in about half an hour LOL

on the Evo you can call and text at the same time.

you can data and text at the same time with minute or no interruption.

you cannot call and data at the same time.

that's what I assumed. I read someone's status saying he couldn't receive or send texts and email while on a call. I knew email he couldn't, but I was almost positive texting could.
