To keep screen from turning off while charging go to Settings/Applications/Development, and choose stay awake.

To play Mpeg1/2/4, DivX/Xvid, WMV install yxplayer from the market

Use your flash as a flash light with LED Light from the market
or try
"LED Desire Light" app instead.... its way brighter, sends SOS, strobe, and you can modify intensity.

hold down the menu button, the keyboard pops up for you. so if you open an app or page that has the typing field at the top for example, you dont have to reach up there and tap inside to get the keyboard which i noticed needs to be done sometimes. you just hold menu key and keyboard pops up. (Thanks to Newone757)
