mail settings on the evo

I want to setup my mail account ( not the gmail one ) so that I decide when I manually want to check my email. but it forces me to set it up so that it syncs withthe pop server.

is there another place for settings other than the mail client to disable this?

You can always go back in and change it to manual after you set it up the first time.
