Q. Does Rooting void my warranty?
A. Yes, if you root your phone, "technically" speaking, you did void your warranty. However, if you need to return your phone to Sprint, you can put the phone back to stock/unrooted by flashing a stock rom. Index of /shipped/Supersonic/

Umm... Rooting no longer voids your warranty. My EVO went down, I told Sprint customer care it was rooted and that there was nothing they could do about it since it is not specifically stated in the 2 yr contract that I couldn't root, and they replaced it at no extra charge. =)
You got lucky. HTC has stated themselves that the manufacturer warranty is voided if the software is rooted. Inexperienced reps, however, will pretty much bend under any pressure.

Re: HELP!! is there a way to flash back to stock via sd card

so i dropped my phone one of MANY MANY times with my indestructible case from best buy and went about my day ... then later that day ... i plugged it in to charge and no go. the light on my charger turned off when i plugged in my phone . im assuming as a safety precaution the charger hot to stops flow to phone. so i thought it was the charger no go, i tried 3 other extra cables and chargers (thank you tp and tp2 lol). so i have FRESH's ROM installed and i need to install the stock ROM and i thought that pc36100.img wasn't the stock ROM somehow

Re: HELP!! is there a way to flash back to stock via sd card

Alright, you can use this method but your going to need a micro sdcard reader so you can transfer the files to your sd card. Just follow the instructions and when the say connect phone to computer just use your micro sdcard reader and copy the files over.

After rooting, even before you do the recovery or flash another rom, when you connect your to the pc, you'll get something that says "USB debugging connected."

Let's say for example you connect to the pc and select "Charge only."
You'll have 2 notifications at the top left.
1 is the USB symbol that looks like a little cactus, that says, "Charge only" and
2 is a triangle w/ an exclamation mark "!" that one is "USB debugging connected."

If you installed a custom rom, you should have an app call "Superuser Permissions."
Hey im wondering if you can help me ?
i"m stock with my hone now i was triying to root it but some how it got stock on the red triangle and exclamation point and not even removing the battery will go any further . any help will be greatlly apreciated

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

When I try to get my phone to do the first part of the update when u copy the PC36IMG on the storage card and turn the phone off, once I get to the boot screen and it reads the PC36IMG it says "Main version is older" and it fails every time I try to do it. What does that mean??

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

OK, sorry this took so long, but I finally updated the 1st post w/ info on rooting phones w/ HBOOT 2.02.

I did a lot of reading on different sites and watched a lot of youtube videos. From what I can see, it's not the hardware version (0003/0004) that cause the issue, it's actually the HBOOT version that determines the method you need. So, if you have H/W 0003 or 0004 it doesn't matter. HBOOT 2.02 is what matters.
If I'm wrong, please let me know. However, the thread that everyone is directing people to use at XDA, does not mention hardware versions, only HBOOT 2.02.

Unrooting EVO

I had a friend root my EVO and he put clockworkmod on it, of course now I am unable to update to 2.2 . I've attempted to follow the guides to unrooting the evo and removing clockworkmod to no avail. unfortunately I am not fluent enough in command and programming to be able to follow some of the steps, I just need a step by step guide to getting the stupid thing off my phone. I've looked for quite a few days and tried the guides on xda developers but, like I said - not versed in programming enough to be able to pull that off.

Someone please give me a hand.
