Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

Hello all. I'd like to ask IKNOWSQUAT and thaCounty a question but if anyone else has something helpful to say feel free.

I have the EVO rooted and all is well. However, I forget how and when one can use a PC36IMG.zip to update versions rather than doing an all out wipe. The idea is to keep the current apps, settings, call logs, sms, mms, etc.

I currently have the 3.30.651.2 build but when i try to update from 3.29.651.2 via rom manager or reboot (renaming the PC36IMG.zip to update.zip) it does nothing. Yes, i did the update from sdcard option/method. I have done this before but now am not sure if i am repeating the process correctly.

Thanks in advance.

Re: EVERYTHING EVO - Rooting | NAND | Flashing Roms | Wipe

I too, need assistance. I just had to return my old EVO because it had a bad USB port.

The refurb I got had a bad speaker and no lights under the hardware buttons. So, they gave me a brand new unit today.

It had Froyo on it already.

I went to the Root tutorial, which directed me to and xda thread [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developersto root a 2.2 Sprint phone, but it doesn't work. That thread is outdated...but I tried it anyway.

I get to the step using unrEVOked and it can't root...it's says it's missing the misc.

Is there a way to root this phone?

Thanks to all who reply.

How do I root a Froyo 2.2 phone from Sprint?

Hey all...

I again turn to you for assistance.

I just had to return my old EVO because it had a bad USB port.

The refurb I got had a bad speaker and no lights under the hardware buttons. So, they gave me a brand new unit today.

It had Froyo 2.2 on it already.

I went to the Root tutorial, which directed me to and xda thread [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G Outdated - xda-developersto root a 2.2 Sprint phone, but it doesn't work. That thread is outdated...but I tried it anyway.

Everything seems to go well until I get to the part where you have to use unrevoked 3. The phone says I have rolled back to 2.1 (eclair).

I get to the step using unrEVOked and it can't root...it's says it's missing the misc.

Is there a way to root this phone?

Thanks to all who reply.

Hmm... I dunno if I have 004 or a 003 device.

Guess I'll have to figure out how to tell which I have.

Re: How do I root a Froyo 2.2 phone from Sprint?

Yeah...I have 0003 and the topic you linked says to hold off on 0003 with hboot 2.02. So I guess I still have to wait.

From what I've read...I wish I got a 0004 though...the camera is supposed to be better.
