I've tried to do it the manual way and I can't get the file to run on the comp. Where do I find the evo-recovery.zip file?

Heading out now but if that doesn't work the process is reversible. You may need to start over.
It may be helpful to read the other thread linked in my sig about returning to Stock.
Post up how it goes, I'll be back on later and Fast is da man with support so one way or the other we'll get you squared away

I appreciate your help but I've been up and down the directions from the first post...just not workin for me. I've followed everything to a "T". When I try to do it manually, it doesn't really say where to find the evo-recovery.zip file.

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

If this has already been addressed, apologies.

I was having an issue with having to restart my PC each time I wanted to sync and found that adb isn't closing when I finish tinkering.

My recovery-windows.bat now looks like this

@ECHO OFF
echo EVO Recovery Mode
echo.
echo Pushing required files to device...
echo.
adb.exe push files /
adb.exe shell busybox --install /sbin
echo.
echo Remount /system folder
adb.exe shell mount -a
adb.exe shell nohup /sbin/recovery
taskkill /f /im adb.exe <-----------Added this
exit

Hope this helps someone.

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

I'm really not sure where to go now. I did everything under ****Rooting**** and that was easy enough. When I attempt to do the ****AUTO RECOVERY METHOD*** I reboot and that is when I get the phone with red triangle. I'm not sure where I go from there since that didn't work. Did rooting not work? How do I know if it worked or not? I still don't know why I'm running .1 and why it doesn't ask me to update anymore.

Re: EVO - Root|Recovery|Nand Backup|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos

So with me having a hard time with the recovery step, can I just use ROM manager to backup the ROM I'm on and also wipe data and clear cache? How about flashing a ROM? My comp just does not recognize my phone...

chill out dude...i had the same thing happen last night...and was getting frustrated as well...so here's what I did.

you have to follow the manual recovery instructions...once you have the red triangle and the EVO...
IF you have Win7...and when you run the recovery-windows.bat as admin...and "nothing" happens. Just double click it normally.

After you get the yellow lettering screen like the video...you should be GOLDEN!!
