Re: Evo acid test - work day, hard use, battery life, issues, etc

The battery sucks on the EVO. I haven't recorded a video, streamed any music never used the radio and rarely used the web browser other than to re-download my apps that I purchased from a previous Android phone. I had to charge my phone 3x's yesterday. Grant it I did a lot of downloading and texting but that still shouldn't have drained the battery that quickly. I have advanced app killer installed as well. Today I was out of the house for 9 hrs and all I did was text and was on a phone call for all of 20mins. I don't believe too much thought was placed into the battery life of this phone. For a phone this powerful, how do u put the same type battery in it you would any other average Smart phone device? The size of the screen alone consumes more power! IDK, an extended battery may be in worked in the budget in the near future.

For all of you users that are complaining about battery life, can I assume that you you have charged and discharged the battery at least 4 to 5 times and are still having battery life problems?

I highly doubt that to be the case since the phone is so new. The battery needs to be conditioned and should NEVER be let to go below 20 or 25 percent during the break in period, if you expect to have a battery that holds a decent charge.

+1 for battery life issues. My roomate has a TP2 and took tons of video at the beach on Friday. I didn't do anything other than check weather and txt on my EVO. He took his phone off the charger at 9 AM and I finished charging mine at 11AM (had to pick it up first). Mine was at 5% when we got home. His was at 39%.

Why do people keep trying to compare the battery to the tp2??? I mean its obviously two different devices with two different data usages on a daily basis. There are a ton of tutorials on here that tell how to improve battery life and I got 16 hours out of mines yesterday with pretty heavy usage before mine went dead.

The TP2 uses the same size battery. Yes, they are too different devices, but Android has very little in terms of power management. WM does this considerably better. Pardon me, but I need my phone to last more than 5-7 hrs on a full charge and moderate use.

Or is it that the faster processor and larger screen suck battery faster. However there are several posts on how to get longer battery life out of the EVO, even one where a guy has gone 61 hours without charging with mild/moderate use and still has 24% left...

Like I said in the other thread take it back... we really dont care to hear you complain about it in every thread. Especially when there are plenty of people here that have managed to get great battery life out of it including myself.

Re: Evo acid test - work day, hard use, battery life, issues, etc

Battery life is pretty good IMO - better than I expected. It should continue to get better too.

I found yesterday that Google maps in navi mode REALLY sucks down the battery fast. This is not a problem because any time I would use this in the car I would hope to have it connected to the car charger/dock.

Re: Evo acid test - work day, hard use, battery life, issues, etc

Then by all means, share with me how to get battery life out of it and perhaps I'll stop complaining. When I pay for a device, I expect it to work to a decent standard (5-6 hrs is NOT a decent amount).

When I look at my battery use, it says Android System is 94%. Tell me, how do I fix that?

-I have Wifi, 4G, GPS all set to off.
-My display is set to 10% brightness and timeout set to 15 seconds.
-ATK is set to kill all processes whenever the screen times out.
-I turned off all animations.
-I have a static wallpaper.

So by all means, tell me what more I can do short of rooting it and using SetCPU.
