The reason why they seriously emphasized the 4G in this commercial is because a 1UP from anything in the technology field is a huge jump!
So when those iPhone3G guru's and kool-aiders actually hear about our new 4G, they will go directly to sprint.com/evo and be transformed from their OS CRAP to Android.

i know how awesome this phone is, mine is already preordered. but i don't expect the vast majority of the US to know what 4g is or care. they want to see what a phone can do and how great it is. if you want to show what 4g is why wouldn't you do something as stupid as what verizon did to try to show how much faster their network was. show a 3g/4g comparison. look, i am all about the 4g but there is no doubt SPRINT has been clueless when it comes to advertising for their products.

You know what, I will put this as easy as possible for you.

When HTC Corp. and Sprint Corp. are both on the same team together, they are "QUIETLY BRILLIANT!!!"

And yet look how successful they are as a corporation, and they sell enough to stay in business and make a healthy profit. I think the big wigs at Sprint probably have a better handle on advertising and the ad execs probably know a bit more about the industry than you or anyone else on this site. Do you have a multi-million dollar corporation under your belt? It's one thing to express your opinion about the commercial, but to say Sprint has no idea about advertising is just foolish. They are big business, and I think they know how to run their company.

Well, I think Sprint saying "The first 4G phone" is enough to make people want to do some research to find out what the hell they are talking about. How many ads have you seen where companies try to give the impression their phone is the say all to end all???

it is a teaser, remember - they know phones will be scarce for the first few weeks. this gets the masses interested, then the next one will show it off.

WE (early adopters, techies) will be the best advertising they can get. they should waive the $10 charge for launch day devices!
