Text Messaging on EVO

One of the things that annoys me on Winmo is when I send or receive a text message it stalls the phone. It amazes me that a little text message can make my expensive phone hang. Sometimes this lag makes me press wrong buttons and such. Anyone with the EVO want to comment if you experience the same thing on the EVO?

Re: Text Messaging on EVO

Also for anyone with the EVO....

Which txt messaging do you prefer ? WinMo or Android?

Do emoticons come with the EVO txt messaging?

Thanks insight!

Re: Text Messaging on EVO

One word for you ------Snapdragon------ if that doesn't tell you anything...You shouldn't have any problems sending messages on the Evo...if you look at the specs this phone doubles that of the TP2. I pefer android txting over WM, I have the TP2 currently and hate that I have to wait for it to catch up to me..

Re: Text Messaging on EVO

I had the TP2 and absolutely hated how broken the text messaging was. I switched to the Moment in April just to get me buy until yesterday (when I got my Evo). Even on the Moment texting worked great. I was wary of the onscreen keyboard only on the Evo, but after a day I absolutely love it. It works really well and is very responsive.

I should point out that I highly recommend handcent. I prefer it to the stock text messaging app.

Jumped ship for Android now that WM is officially useless.

Re: Text Messaging on EVO

Android does it SO much better. My gf has the equally spec'd (to TP2) Hero and her text messaging is smooth and doesn't hang like mine does. WM's messaging app is absolutely terrible in comparison.

Fixed it for you.

Also, emoticons work, but they require a nose. So you need : - ).

I would still expect my TP2 to not hang on a text message when cheapy phones out there don't hang on text messages. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is irritated with this problem. Looks like I'm in for a nice surprise with the EVO then. Can't wait!

Yep ....my old 700p had threaded text messaging plus alot other enhancement and worked wonderfully.

In fact, I would go as far as saying the 700p is still the KING when it comes to text messaging.
