Merging Calls on the Evo 4g Network

just wondering since you can surf and chat on 4g, will you be able to link calls also?for example my little sister could always link everyone on a conference call no matter when they called she would just press link and it would merge everyone into conference mode....will the Evo be able to do this on 4g?

Actually, even EVDO is just for data. Sprint's phone calls are still carried over the 1xCDMA (which is why on some phones, the Ev icon changes to 1x when you make a call, or even receive a SMS). But since they are related technologies, they can't be used at the same time (which is why no data and calling at the same time up to this point)

Now, to answer the OP's question - conference calling should be possible on the EVO, as long as the dialer app supports it and last I checked most of HTC's dialer's will. I don't know if will be as easy as just tapping "Link" but I suppose we'll find out soon enough, won't we

i will add however that switching into a conference call on HTC's Android phones is pretty easy

yes, calls going into or out of a conference call will be handled the same as always because as the second post mentioned, 4G isn't used for voice, just data, calls will still be handled by the traditional CDMA network so all calls will be handled the same

Re: Merging Calls on the Evo 4g Network

on sprint you can only do conference aka 3 way calling by calling person 1, put them on hold, call person 2, let them answer, then connect the 2 calls. from there you can not selectively hang up one or the other.. you either hang all up or the individual will hang themselves up....
