Question Google voice vs visual voicemail?

So currently im using google voice on my Pre to take care of my voicemail not route the call. Since the EVO has visual voicemail does this negate the need to use google voice for voicemail or is there a way they can play nicely?

Also what will you be using and why?

PS as you can prolly tell Im very green to android.

Re: Google voice vs visual voicemail?

If the Evo has visual voicemail than I would say yes, stop using google voice...but maybe keep it as a backup incase the Evo's Visual Voicemail stops working or something. Always good to have a backup.

Re: Google voice vs visual voicemail?

I have never used visual voicemail but I do use Google voice and the reason I use it is so I dont have to give out my real phone number.

Anyone feel free to correct me if Im wrong but visual voice mail gives you the option to LISTEN to any voicemail you choose without skipping all the others, BUT google voice transcribes the voicemail to text/email which is what i choose to use b/c i dont want to have to listen to them at all. So I will continue to use google voice when i get mine

Same, here. I understand visual voice mail to work as you describe, so I plan to keep on using GV.

Love GV. Can't remember the last time I listened to a VM. You sometimes have to kind of "read aloud" to get the gist of it, though! LOL!

The stock visual VM works like this. Say you were to have 5 VMs you open the app and you can pick and choos which one you want to hear because they are Dled to the phone as audio files. But it doesnt transcribe them, you can only listen.
