ok, id like like to keep this completely opinion based...

i live in St. Louis and as far as 4g we're on the "coming soon" list. i really wants this phone much like everyone else. now i do understand the features the come along with it but they mostly revolve around having the 4g and the counless disputes over the extra charge for it. my delima lies in the fact that i obviously dont yet have 4g and the TEP i recently became the proud new owner of a TP2. ive read a lot of complaints about it but to me its all shiney and new but neither here now there. lol. my question to all of you is whether or the EVO is truely worth it YET without having the 4g service? now again i want to try to keep this stricyly opinion based. there are plenty of other threads argueing rates and features. thanks

thats a decision you are going to have to make .. because everybody in this forum have different opinions... but to help you out theres a bunch that think the 10 dollar fee is ridiculous but are still getting the evo 4g .. but they are also still complaining lol .. if i did not have 4g in my area i will still get the evo.. plus dont worry your area should have 4g .. as soon as the evo arrives

Re: ok, id like like to keep this completely opinion based...

I think it is. I am in New York, no 4G until later this year, but I want this phone NOW. I am also updating from my SERO plan. SERO will go to my gf.

Reason that I want EVO now and don't care about $10 is that I just about ****ing had it with Touch Pro 2 and WinMo in general. After supporting WinMo, the TP2 is the final straw.

I am tired of newton's rings
I am tired of phone just turning off on it's own
I want to have apps (don't start with me that WinMo has tens of thousands apps. I do not want to run around distant corners of the internet gathering apps that do, basically, nothing)
I want to be able to watch videos from SD card without horrible pixelation due to lack of video drivers

I can go on and on, but TP2, new or old, still suffers from poor touch screen and horrible operating system. So for me, Evo is well worth the early switch.

Android is waaay better then winmo 6.5 in my opinion. If you're on the coming soon list, get it.

Re: ok, id like like to keep this completely opinion based...

Just think of it this way, by years end they said they will have up to 15 more major cities, which includes outlining areas for the most part covered in 4G...I wouldn't base your reason on weather to buy this phone on 4G coverage only...the phone alone offers much more benifits...Android OS, Apps, screen size, 2 cameras, kickstand, 8GB memory card...and so on...that's how Im basing my opinion on this phone, and those options are out weighing what I currently have...so on August 1st I will be a new proud owner of the Evo 4G.

4g isnt coming to Salt Lake City til later this year and im still gonna have one on June 4th the pros of this phone even without 4g far outweigh my TP2.

Re: ok, id like like to keep this completely opinion based...

im think of making the jump but i dont wanna give up my sero. i been watching the plan upgrade thread and watching how people are already trying to scam the system. ive personaly never even used an android phone. im kind of a windows fanboy but thats partially because i dont know anything else. from what ive read the difference between these two is like night and day.

Re: ok, id like like to keep this completely opinion based...

With all the annoyances of windows mobile on the TP2, I'm going to stick with it until the Evo gets rooted or an app allows wireless tethering without paying the $30 wifi charge... The $10 data premium sucks, but palatable with the features you get with the evo. But I can't justify paying an additional $30 a month for a feature I rely on...

I still think it's a worthy upgrade, the specs alone would have sold me even if 4g wasntin the picture at all. This is the phone I've been waiting for for quite sometime.
