I have spoken with Sprint about this and posted a chat transcript in the Wifi thread about it. They advise that there will be NO charge to use the normal Wifi on the phone only to use it as a router / hot spot.

Salty think of it like this, one if my phone isn't active it can still access wifi, that means it has nothing to do with sprints network, so sprint has no way of even knowing if your using it. 2nd you can activate the evo on any network, which also means there's no way to block the wifi access. You have to stop and think about what you're saying. If sprint can block your wifi access they are the only company that can do that meaning if you take it to metro you wont be able to access wifi at all, which isn't the case. What you're suggesting isn't even possible to do

If they are only talking about tethering there, then why didn't they also mention bluetooth and USB, and only mention WiFi?

I think Sprint's CEO has already demonstrated that Sprint will tell you one thing and do another.

The reps at sprint are probably reading these forums to find their info. i saw a screen shot and transcript posted where the rep was telling someone they didn't have any pricing or plan info, with the website in the backround displaying the pricing info. It was comedy.

I really think there isn't going to be a way to get this info ether way you look at it we are going to have to wait till it comes out. I tried to call everyone I knew on this issue and the said the didnt see how wifi would be blocked but they couldn't tell me for sure. I predict this will be answered Jun 4th...lol

no my logic applies to what we were talking about... we were talking about wifi vs hotspotting

not wifi vs 4g

extremely simple to answer, one wifi access is what everyone is talking about right now. I think that less then 2% of the people i know have ever connected to the internet throught bluetooth. But over 90% of the people i know have connected a device through wifi.

Also the app in question that they are pushing hard is a wifi app so why would they bring up bluetooth and usb?
