To those who are saying it is required - YES, it is required for the Evo because of the 4G. I have yet to read anything that shows any stipulation, or lack thereof, for those consumers who are NOT in a 4G market.

You are paying $10 for a service so one would expect to pay for something they CANNOT use. Doesn't make sense.

Yeah, looks like I'm going to have to move to a 4G area; just for my phone ! Or I can make the 4G come to me >!!!!

Actually this is quite nice, this might actually deter some people. Which means that there will be a bigger chance of me being able to casually walk into the store and pick up my phone .

Glad I live in Texas, we have the most 4g coverage so far .

If you look at the bottom of the ad under the "Get unlimited web..." it says it's required. Engadget, who is supposedly at the NYC launch event also confirmed that it's a mandatory addon if you want the EVO.

Really a kick in the nuts to anyone who isn't in 4G coverage, which quite frankly is pretty much almost everywhere.
