Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

Right from the Sprint PR guy John Taylor: "If you buy the Sprint 4G EVO, you have to pay this $10 charge each month. This is specific to the device. It's not related to whether you are using 3G or 4G. It is required if you have the phone."

There goes my "dream" phone for this year....

Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

Another email I just got from the EVP people

Quote:
Hello everyone!!!

Great news…I am sure most of you have already heard. The HTC Evo will officially become available on June 4th for 199.99 after rebates for new service and qualified upgrades. It appears that if you are in a 4G market and wish to use the 4G network, it is $10 additional per month. To use the ‘mobile Wi-Fi hotspot’ feature of this phone, which can connect up to 8 Wi-Fi devices, it is 29.99 additional per month. As expected, an “Everything Data” or “Simply Everything” plan will be required.

If you are new to the EVP pre-order process (or need a refresher), here is it. I will email everyone again as soon as it is available. Once your pre-order is placed, we will get it pending in the system where it is ready to go. Our support team will have an alert set up that when it shows up in inventory (we ship from the Sprint warehouse in Louisville) we start shipping them out automatically…we have done this so many times we are the experts. Most of the times this is before the official release date and before it is available to the general public…sometimes by hours, sometimes by days. Regardless, everyone who gets their pre-order in with us will be at the top of the list for devices shipped out from the national inventory. In my opinion, this is the best way to do it…no need to go from store to store just to wait in crowded lines and be turned away because their limited supply is out.

If you end up ‘twisting some arms’ at a local store and are able to get it before we ship it out, please email me or give us a call so you aren’t double-charged. I hope everyone gets their Evo through the EVP as we will not only guarantee your account retains your employee discount (stores have accidentally removed them before), but our support team are the experts in getting this set up for you. We strive to provide the most exceptional service and as always, you know how to reach me as your one point of contact.

For those of you that are 100% on board to get your pre-order in for the initial release, please email me the account name (order must be placed under account name) and the wireless number(s) you are going to upgrade. Also include the name of your employer so I can send you the proper link for submitting your pre-order. If you have any additional requests like next day shipping ($12) or delivery address other than the billing address, please let me know.

I really appreciate the participation in this pre-order process. As always, feel free to shoot me any questions. As you can imagine, this is going out to hundreds of people so please allow time for a reply. For those that have worked with me before, you know I will take care of everything. J

Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

I will argue that one when I get to the sprint store and tell them they can shove that one. lol I aint paying for something I cant use. I will be Dang if thats gunna happen. Those days where you could just "add-on" things were the best. Oh you just want a phone to dial out and in to no problem thats all you gotta pay for. Those were the days when Sprint wasnt so greedy!!

Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

I really wanted this phone too. My TP1 is getting kinda old but still works OK.

I can afford the $10/month but I am not sure I am willing to pay it. Times are tough and an added $10/month for a "phone" is kinda hard to swallow. I carry around a small table PC that can do anything this thing does and 1000 times better in all honesty when it's tied to my TP1 using wifirouter.

When my son was added to our account with the hero we had to upgrade everything which took us to over $150/month. Just seems a bit crazy for what you get. The extra 500 minutes per month were not needed and never probably will be.

Gonna have to think real hard over this one now - before it was a forgone conclusion that I was going to upgrade to this phone.

Re: official evo 199 at sprint june 4 realese date!!!

I've been out of a contract since Jan.(didnt know lol) Once the phone is release I will place my order over the phone and if they tell me I have to pay $10 extra for something I wont use or can't use I will simply ask to cancel my account and go with verizon. Not about the money, but i wont let them take advantage only b/c they can.

This has been posted on the home page for news and doesnt have anything to do with the Evo or it release date.
