Sprint Employees Begin EVO 4G Training; Screenshots a Plenty

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I copied it from another forum...

Sprint Employees Begin EVO 4G Training; Screenshots a Plenty

http://www.androidguys.com/2010/05/0...nshots-plenty/

AndroidGuys has been privileged to receive a plethora of screenshots showing Sprint's EVO 4G training materials. According to our source, today's the day that Sprint employees are beginning to train on the new WiMAX phone. Rumors have the phone pegged for a June 6th launch. With employees already training, that date not only looks possible, but very likely. However, I was unable to get a release date confirmation. For all we know, Sprint may decide to launch the device next week at their event in New York City. I will, personally, be attending the event to keep you all up-to-date on the latest happenings (and to see Prince of Persia, of course).

Unlike the leaked promotional stuff from Radio Shack, this stuff is from actual training material. Yes, the device will come pre-loaded with Sprint specific apps. From the language of the materials, it seems that the EVO 4G will require special rate plans. This especially applies for use of the phone's mobile hotspot functionality.

Interestingly, you'll see that Sprint Navigation is present on the device. It's unclear what this means for Google Maps Navigation. Let's hope that both are there and Sprint didn't decide to go all AT&T on us and strip out native Android apps. More information as it comes.

Not really feeling the fact that I will have to get ANOTHER new plan I just switched from SERO to get the HERO. I'll pay whatever for the Evo but I'm not willing to pay more per month!

I can't see the reason for the need to change the plan, maybe an addon for the hot spot feature. But not a full plan change.

I love how everytime new news comes out about the phone or the new plans, more and more people say this or that is deal breaker. I hope it is cuz that will just make it easier for me to get one. But in reality I still think people are going to get the phone even though they are complaining about every little detail, so why even complain when you know damn well you are still gonna get the phone once it's released.

soooo true.. there's no way that would keep me away.. unless the phone had a big apple on it.. lol. iphone killer for sure. Sprint/HTC/Google have done exceptional on the specs, design, and marketing. these leaks can't be on accident.. Sprint is teasing us.. I love it. can't wait!

From what I understand, there was a user on Androidforums (before it went down) that is currently doing training for Sprint on the EVO and the "new plan" is not really a "new plan" if you're on an everything data plan (individual or family). Apparently, this is just internal changes that need to be made to the account, so that the options for 4G as a hotspot are available to the line that gets an EVO.

From my understanding, it's like when you go onto Sprint.com and you can add-on services through their website. This new internal coding will allow for people that purchase the EVO to add or delete the mobile hot spot option (and any other added 4G option that's available). Hope that makes sense.

that is how i read it as well. i think people with their "everything" of "everything data" package plans will be safe.
