So on Sprint, you have the Sprint network, which is already many times larger than T-Mobile's, plus you have free roaming coverage basically anywhere else in the nation.

With T-Mobile, you just have T-Mobile's small network.
Sprint will also cancel your account if you roam, and the limit is pretty low. So while they don't charge you for roaming, they will absolutely cancel your account.

over 50% of your calls have to be made on the sprint network.

And the data roaming limit is only like 300 megs or something like that.

Although at 1X speeds, 300mb would take a while...

Re: Anyone have an idea on the price for the Evo 4G?

So yeah, roaming on Sprint is basically for emergency use only. Any semi regular use on it will result in your account getting cancelled.

So roaming on Verizon may be a plus for T-Mobile over Sprint, it's certainly not a really big deal because you can't use it very much.

I'm almost positive T-Mobile can roam on AT&T too. At least for voice and possibly EDGE data. I know T-Mobile has roaming partners, so I would have to assume AT&T is the main one.

it doesn't work like that. tmobile and att can't roam off each other. Basically where ever you get a tmobile signal is the only place you can use your phone, its not like cdma where you can switch towers or go into options and put your phone on roaming. I have the option to put my phone on att service but it instantly tells me my sim is not capable of using att signal. All of tmobiles roaming partners are there but your phone doesn't go into any type of roaming mode, it just switches to the roaming tower (if thats what you want to call it) but all you see is E. Currently the government is under debate whether to make all cell carriers open their networks up for roaming, meaning att and tmobile would have to let each other roam off each other

They used to roam off each other. They must have stopped that or something.

its funny, i was so use to roaming the cdma way it took a minute for me to comprehend when they were explaining it to me, i had assumed since they are gsm they could roam off each other the way sprint and verizon do, but basically if you dont get a signal you're sol, honestly edge is everywhere but when driving through certain areas i notice my evdo is more accessable then 3g.

i was just saying the same (well....similiar) thing in another post. $249 sounds more like Sprint's speed. They already dropped the price on the TP2 ($199).
