Re: Anyone working on ROM development to port in WM

Since nobody is giving a real answer........

It's not possible to run Windows Mobile on Android devices. While there has been ports to do the reverse (Android on WM) like AndrOMINA, the hardware has to support Windows Mobile (which some CPUs don't) and the SPL (Secondary Program Loader) has to be configured to boot the WM ROM.

Android devices have their NAND Chips divided into various partitions, however WM has it all-in-one partition (correct me if I'm wrong).

Why do you want Windows Mobile on an Android device? Unless you know your techie stuff, pay Microsoft for the Windows Mobile source code, compile and test it on your Android device, not to mention the tasks of flashing, rooting, etc.

In other words, if you want Windows Mobile, go buy a WM phone that's out on the market today. Otherwise, if you get an Android phone, get used to android.

rooting is basically the samething as unlocking. When you root your phone it gives you root access to the the phone meaning you can unlock and flash custom roms and change the root director. To be honest i found rooting is not as simple as unlocking on winmo, but once you are rooted flashing custom roms and making those types of user changes is easier with android then with winmo. Once the evo is released or probably before its released it will get rooted and someone will post a tuturial. I don't want to post a link because there are a couple of different ways to root phones and you will need that tuturial especially for your phone. for instance i posted the nexus root below, but honestly there is another way as well.

Re: Anyone working on ROM development to port in WM

WinMo 7 looks really awesome so far and I would love to have it on my Evo and try it out. Having the option never hurt anyone last time I checked. No clue if it will be possible any time soon, but I certainly welcome the idea.
