GDE is an overlay of the home screen like Sense. Both cannot be run at the same time. When using GDE the Sense widgets are not listed, they only work on the Sense overlay.

That helps, but is bad news for me. I like the sense widgets more than some cosmetic change to the dock or icons and ect for me to use it.

Well problem solved, running Froyo 2.2 rooted so we are all set now.
