Re: Best Buys WET Zagg Install

They also have more than one indicator. The initial indicator is the one you can see when you take the bat cover off. There are other indicators inside the phone that will be used to see if it really did get wet. Usually if the first one is triggered you can insist that they look deeper just to make sure it wasn't trigger in your pocket on a hot day. People sweat. This isn't a phone for strictly office jockeys. Can't really avoid it when it comes to that.

But in your case I would get them to exchange the phone. Point out that the battery isn't wet. You may have to wait a while till they get more in stock if they're out though. Make sure you do it before your 30 days OR just add the insurance and make a claim. Once you make the claim you don't have to pay the $10/month. Plus they won't have any refurbs so you won't have to worry about that.

Get the insurance. Swap the phone. Cancel the insurance. I took my wife's Moment back in to get her and Evo and they refunded the full amount of the insurance, even though we had the phone for 3 weeks.

Yeah I've seen the other indicators when I took my Hero apart. I'll make a visit when I get off since she still hasn't called me back! But I was actually planning on doing the $10/month thing if everything else fails. They're waiting on there 2nd shipment right now. So I know it maybe a while. but its better than paying an unnecessary $100 down the road.

Re: Best Buys WET Zagg Install

I just picked up one of these and installed it myself (front screen only... had a rewardzone certificate from Best Buy so I just grabbed what they had).

The installation instructions are similar to installing tint; it comes with a solution (containing diluted isopropl (sp) alcohol and whatever else) that you're instructed to:

a.) spray on your clean fingers (to remove excess oil)
b.) spray on both sides of the protector

It says specifically to not spray your phone, and you really don't need to, since there's a decent amount of excess liquid when you smooth out the protector (it instructs you to blot it up with a lint-free paper towel if possible).

My water mark did not trigger, but again I only did the front screen. Because of how the battery cover sits, the only way I could see not getting liquid inside when installing the protector on the back would be to remove the battery covery during installation (which seems like a good idea anyway.

It really comes down to the fact that a Best Buy employee tripped your watermark (even if they were actually following the directions for the product) and they should be responsible for resolving this issue for you (imo).

Re: Best Buys WET Zagg Install

i had this happen when i applied a full body shield on my old touch pro which were notorious for going bad. i explained to the tech when i had to take it in and he said not to worry. they just use that indicator as just that, an indicator, not proof. they said they have to open the phone and then they can tell whether it had ever been exposed to water or not.

I'll call my Sprint too and explain the situation to them. Maybe they'll say something similar (although I doubt it because the Sprint Techs in Houston are IDIOTS lol)

Re: Best Buys WET Zagg Install

She finally called back and the guy that sold me my phone was actually the manager. He was also the one who installed the shield. I built up a nice rapport with him when I purchased the phone and I guess it payed off. I'll get a new one if one of the ppl who reserved the 2nd wave doesn't want it today or when the next shipment comes in.
Thank god!!!

UPDATE: Somebody canceled so I'm picking up a brand new one today

Good to know. I hate my zagg protector and absolutely loved the oem protector that came with the tp2. Have yet to stop by a sprint store for my evo needs but will be to get this...

Re: Best Buys WET Zagg Install

I preordered a Clarivue antiglare screen protector before I got my phone. After installing it, I'll never look back. It does not leave fingerprints and it wont leave any sticky residue or collect lint like my Boxwave on my Touch Pro did. If you get lint on the Clarivue, use a piece of scotch tape to pick up the protector, then use a rolled piece of tape to get the dust off the back. Kind of difficult, but not so bad once you get the hang of it. And once you're done, you're done!
