Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
I sort of prefer ghost armor like I use on my touch pro. I hate slippery screens. http://www.ghost-armor.com/htc/evo4g.../prod_408.html
Its not at all tacky and its completely transparent. They also have a lifetime guarantee. The same armor has been on 3 different TP's now without any issues. Still works great. |

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
im just trying to figure out what to get myself, my palm pre had the maximum coverage invisible shield but i didnt like that the phone looked laminated and the screen was kinda rubbery, thats when my touch pro 2 just has a clear plastic smooth screen protector i got from the mall, same as stock but thicker and more adhesive. i def want full coverage for the evo, i have a 50% discount for the zagg maximum coverage shield i tried it and it worked (btw you can easily get 30% off if you just subscribe to their weekly ipad contest they email you 30% off right away) but i was looking into ghost armor its pretty cheap now like 15 bucks but what i really want is that smooth non rubbery feel, does anyone know how ghost armor feels and will it cover the sides like the invisible shield does, thanks guys!

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
The ghost armor has a rubbery feel but I grew to like it and its definitely durable. I've heard they'll replace the protector if its damaged no questions asked.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
does ghost armor feel any less rubbery than the zagg shields...i can get a zagg full shield for 12.50 but hate that rubbery feel....any suggestions for how to do full body coverage and at least have the screen be smooth and totally clear like the stock one that comes with the tp2

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
I can't comment on the zagg, never tried it. The ghost armor is clear as can be once it dries. I compared it to the stock protector on my mom's TP and hers feels slippery to me. The ghost armor isn't at all tacky, my finger slides right across it, its just not slick. Each to his own I guess. I only got the screen protector, not the whole body kit. Didn't really see the point in the body kit.

I myself am going to go with Clairvue. From everything I've been reading it's exactly what most people are looking for in both toughness, smoothness, and clearness. I may consider someone else's full body kit also for the rest of it, but refuse to have any sort of sticky feeling on my display. |

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
No, its not tacky at all, my finger slides across it easily. Its just not slippery like the cheap plastic one that comes with the phone. You'll notice it more with the stylus than your finger. When I used my mom's phone with her stylus I found the stylus kept sliding away from what i was trying to hit cause it was so slick. With my phone that wasn't an issue. Its just a personal preference thing. I'm sure some people won't like it and some will love it. There's reviews on their site I think.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
WARNING: Not for the faint of heart. HERE is a video of a guy who takes a key, scissors and a razor to his HD2 screen and didn't show any scratches.
I could hardly watch doing stuff like that on purpose. The thread I found it in over at the XDA dev forums (LINK) had people responding saying theirs did scratch, so I would rather be safe than sorry on this phone. I have no doubt that the screen on this phone is more scratch resistant than my Touch Pro 2 plastic screen, but I am not going to risk it. It would bug me every time I looked at it if there was a scratch on the screen. |
Wirelessly posted (Sprint TP2 6.5 stock: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)
i read someone mention the glass screen may not need a protector .. im gonna to maybe prevent it from breaking in event it falls to the ground which im hopin not to ... how are the full kits as far as looks & putting them on .. fitments on previous phones ? also ppl mention the rainbow banding issue alot of our tp1s & tp2s experienced was due to screen protectors. are these phones facing same possibilities if indeed that is a cause ? |
Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
Glass screens are very resistant to scratches. I know several people with really beat up iphones with screens that are unscratched. However, it doesn't mean it can't happen as I've seen some with scratches all over. I use a protector on my ipod touch and will use one on my evo. They are cheap and they are barely noticeable. As for body protection most likely. Bestskinsever are cheap enough to replace once or twice a year, which is how long they seem to last from my past experience.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
I think I'm going to skip on the screen protector as I think the glass will be fine and just drop it in this case:

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
Damn. I didn't notice that. I guess I'll just have to be really careful with it for a few weeks or maybe I'll get a silicone one until that one is available.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
While these new phones do have very scratch resistant glass on them they are not scratch proof. Any sand, rock, or glass bead media can and will scratch the screens. Skin protectors are the next best thing to a naked phone since you preserve the look and feel of the phone without adding the bulk of a large case.

and where did y'all see that it's a glass screen? i think that would be a first for htc on sprint.
is that a capacitive screen thing? |
Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
apparently the incredible is gorilla glass, so hopefully the evo is too:
Dear Keegan, I can understand the interest in the knowledge of the HTC Incredible Screen. The screen display is actually an Opaque Aluminum-Silicone Base. It is called Gorilla Glass, which is impervious to the very real threats of key scratching and localized pressure. Gorilla Glass is an unscratchable, unshatterable material used as a protective window for your mobile phone. Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
Is gorilla glass really unscratchable? Even to sand and whatnot? I think the Droid has gorilla glass as well.

Re: EVO Screen Protectors Thread
wow .. i think this thread was suppose to make it easier on deciding on a screen protector but dam there are too many choices ... i want one that is not like running finger on the inside of an orange peel .. can someone suggest one ... i think the zagg and others that offer the full body are more of the sticky feeling type as mentioned above...
i wonder how these would be and nice to have a full size mirror http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page....4G&skuno=88266 |

As for a regular clear screen protector, I'll probably just go with the same old ebay ones that are dirt cheap (couple bucks for a pack of 3 or so). They are smooth and they stick fairly well. They last pretty long and for the price you can regularly swap them out. I got a clarivue one once and couldn't tell the difference from the ones I got on ebay for the same device. There are "higher" end ones out there but it's hard to justify the purchase when you can get about a dozen for the same price which will probably outlast your device. |
